Dr. Elizabeth Jacob

Dr. Elizabeth Jacob is a highly accomplished Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with over 25 years of extensive clinical experience in women's healthcare. As Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Apollo Adlux Hospital, Angamaly, Kochi, she is recognised for her clinical expertise, academic excellence, and compassionate approach to patient care. Most recently, she was admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG), London, in December 2025: a distinction that further reinforces her standing among global leaders in women's health.

A distinguished graduate of the prestigious Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, Dr. Elizabeth completed her postgraduate training as a topper and medalist, reflecting her exceptional academic achievements. Over the years, she has trained and worked at several of India's leading healthcare institutions, gaining extensive experience in managing both routine and highly complex obstetric and gynaecological conditions.

Dr. Elizabeth has particular expertise in high-risk obstetrics and is widely respected for her ability to manage complex pregnancies requiring specialised maternal and fetal care, providing close monitoring, timely intervention, and personalised treatment plans that optimise outcomes for both mother and baby.

An accomplished vaginal surgeon, Dr. Elizabeth is highly skilled in performing Non-Descent Vaginal Hysterectomy (NDVH) and advanced pelvic organ prolapse repair procedures, supported by specialised training in urogynaecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery. Her leadership in this field is reflected in her role as National Joint Secretary of the Society of Vaginal Surgeons of India (2024–26) and South Zone Coordinator of the FOGSI Vaginal Surgery Committee (2025–26), and she served as Scientific Chair of SOVSICON 2025, the Society's national conference.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Elizabeth has made significant, sustained contributions to academic medicine and women's health research. Her work has been recognised at four consecutive FIGO World Congresses — Vancouver (2015), Rio de Janeiro (2018), and Paris (2023) — including the prestigious FIGO/IPAS Award for Best Paper (Vancouver, 2015), and she was honoured with the Apollo Clinical Excellence Award for Distinguished Clinician in 2025. She has also authored chapters in three FOGSI manuals published in 2025–26, covering vaginal surgery, urogynaecological problems, and menopause management.
